Mickelson at 47 takes his 43rd Title!

Mickelson gives the Thumbs Up! 2018 WGC Mexico Championship Winner

Phil Mickelson becomes the oldest player to win a WGC Championship

'Wow', just 'WOW' were the cries on the 72nd hole of regulation play when Justin Thomas holed out.  This was from the fairway, however, to post a -16 total.  At that time, Phil Mickelson and Tyrrell Hatton had three holes to play. Mickleson then birdied the 16th to draw level. Both parred the 17th and sadly Hatton bogeyed the 18th to end his Championship.  Mickelson could only manage a par to force a play off.

One play off hole later, with Mickelson's ball ending up behind the hole for his birdie attempt, it mattered not; Thomas missed his par attempt. Phil Mickelson claimed his third WGC title at the age of 47... the oldest player to do so. (It was also Mickelson's 43rd Tour Title).

We're huge Mickelson fans at The Mind Zone!

It was an achievement for Mickelson or 'Lefty' as he is known, and proof of course, that you just need to play one shot at a time.  Age is no barrier.  If you watched the tournament, you will have noticed the focus and attention that Phil gave to EVERY shot... going through his well rehearsed process.  But in-between, every time, he's enjoying the interaction from the crowd and giving his now trade-mark thumbs up!  Well done Phil!
