Well just how exciting was that first day at The Ryder Cup in France? After the disappointment of the 2016 Ryder Cup in Hazletine, the Europeans have been desperate to make amends and bounce back. They didn't need a second chance on Day 1.
After a morning session of fourballs, where the American Ryder Cup Team took a 3-1 lead, how were the Europeans feeling? How did they feel, coming out for the afternoon Foursomes? With two games being lost by the margin of 1 hole, there would have been a feel of nervousness. Quite possibly, de ja vu, as they came out for the afternoon.
'Bounce-back-ability' is something that we talk about frequently on The Mind Zone workshops. Fortunately, the European Ryder Cup Team demonstrated it beautifully today, with a 4-0 whitewash in the afternoon. After day one, they lead the tournament by 5-3.
Just because you've had a poor hole, 'bounce-back' on your very next hole. Follow your process. The majority of amateurs compound a bad hole, with another bad one!
Rory McIlroy, defeated in the morning session, bounces back with his Medinah and Gleneagles partner, Ian Poulter for the afternoon session.
Justin Rose, FedEx Champ, defeated with Jon Rahm in the morning, partners up with Henrik Stenson for the afternoon and thumps Dustin Johnson & Rickie Fowler 5 & 4.
And a great Ryder Cup Debut for the Race to Dubai Champion, Tommy Fleetwood. Tommy won two points over both sessions with 2018 Open Champion Francesco Molinari, looking like a formidable partnership.
Enjoy The Ryder Cup!
