With the cut at The Open being +1, there are already some big name casualties. Major winners, Jason Day, Keegan Bradley, Darren Clarke, two-times Open Champion Padraig Harrington, multiple winner Tiger Woods and most recently, USPGA Champ Gary Woodland, missing out on the weekend activities. But perhaps one of the biggest names to miss the weekend was Rory McIlroy, who came up short by just one shot, after carding a tremendous 65 on the second day.
Golf is certainly a game of fractions and 'Ifs & Buts', however, when you consider that lapse in concentration on the 16th during round one, when he casually stepped up and missed the putt.... what could that putt have been worth?!
We've all been there though, and if we get off to a slow start, console ourselves in the fact that there are plenty more holes to go! Why not start, with full attention and concentration from the very first shot though, and each and every one after that!
You may be surprised how your score can tumble.
Enjoy the final two rounds of The Open and let's see who lifts the Claret Jug come Sunday afternoon. Could it be Westwood, Lowry or Fleetwood, all searching for their first Major?
Only time will tell.
